One Water Garden Plant Every Homeowner Should Consider

July 13, 2015 Lara Justesen

Lotus are hardy in the water gardens of the central Midwest. Giant leaves rise well above the water's surface and their blooms resemble a mix between peony and rose. Very dramatic effect. Native lotus blooms are yellow, but varieties from blue to purple to pink to red can be grown. Mind the way in which you plant them, though, unless you want them to completely fill your water garden.
